Lloyd Stevenson Carbon Fibre Sports Fishing Boat Matuku

Project OVERVIEW

After purchasing his Maritimo M60 on the Gold Coast, our clients steamed it back to New Zealand.

during the voyage, they observed that the engine room temperatures rose to between 45 & 50 degrees Celsius even on a 25-27 degree day.

Project GOALS

The project was designed to resolve the overheating issues in the engine room of the vessel and also ensure better air flow in the space.

The CHALLENGE

Considerable overheating in the engine room of this vessel with suspected lack of air flow as well. While your engine room might get warm or even hot, clients often don't realise that the lack of directional air is also a challenge. Cooling the space isn't often just a matter of reducing temperature, its about increasing the airflow to the components that matter and creating a better cross section of air.

The SOLUTION

We upgraded the ventilation by replacing the factory stainless steel grilles with larger aluminum separator grilles.

We also removed fabric filters and added a fan diverter to enhance forward airflow. As a result, the vessel’s engine room heating improved by 5 to 7 degrees when cruising at 8 to 10 knots.

In addition, the aluminum grilles completely eliminated salt mist ingress during steaming. Now, the client can easily spray the grilles with a high-pressure hose during cleaning, and no water has entered the engine room.
