Our success in this industry is due largely to the amazing team we have here at Marine Air Flow. Ten years ago we started with Brad working from home in an open faced shed on our 30 acre property in Cairns. Today we are 12 strong with tradesmen, apprentices, a CAD designer, a project manager, an estimator and recently a new sales person, situated from our Miami factory on the stunning Gold Coast. Our team is extremely diverse which has helped us all move forward as a business and a team. We are so proud of everyone on our team, how hard they work and how much they contribute to our day to day operations. We all work a 4 day week - yes that's correct - we only work Monday through Thursday, so we know we all have the best work-life balance we probably could.
This is s HUGE factor in our success.
Brad - Director
Brad's role these days has evolved to being the main point of contact for new business and ongoing clients. He still has a hand in the more technical project's development, however he does spend a reasonable amount of time at tradeshows these days along with visiting commercial clients about ongoing projects.
Brad has been racing his jet boat the last 8 years, however has now decided to focus his efforts on more social pursuits and you can often find him following his wife around the mountains on some local hikes or snorkeling our amazing Gold Coast locations.
Mark - Chief Estimator
Mark started with us as a laborer around 7 years ago. We loved his can do attitude from the start and it wasn't long before he was the next apprentice to start with us. Mark has shown a great head for numbers, is great with technology and always manages to keep his cool no matter how stressful the situation. Mark is now our Project Manager and oversees all our projects through from quote acceptance to shipping.
In his spare time Mark is a 4WD off-roader and is quite the expert on all things Rugby League.
Blake - Workshop Foreman
Blake has been with Marine Air Flow for 9 years. He is currently planning how he and his family will spend his long service leave next year. Blake was a second year apprentice when he started with us and has moved up through the ranks to his current position where he manages our production team on the workshop floor. He loves our four day week and you can often find him with his wife and two children in the parks around the gold coast, or golfing with his dad and grandad.
Thian - Tradesman
Thian and his wife Suswe came to Australia as refugees in 2010. Thian filled a temporary position for us and the next week we offered him his mature age apprenticeship. Thian drives from Logan every day which is at least a 30 minute commute each way. Despite this, he is always smiling and has just won 2017 Apprentice Of The Year for the Gold Coast region. We are so proud of his achievements both at work and in life.
Thian and his family are very dedicated to his church and you can find them celebrating their faith every weekend at the Logan Burmese church every Sunday.
Joel - Storeperson
Joel has been with us a few years now and is responsible for all the shipping and packaging of our products. Joel also is in charge of our store and is often picking up or dropping off products at our powder coater's or suppliers.
Joel is from Murwillumbah which is over the border, so the day after State Of Origin is always a little feisty in the factory. He is also involved in the jet boat racing and is a navigator for an Australian team.
Liam - CAD Draftsperson
Liam has been with us a few years now. He does all our CAD drafting and drawing. We are so fortunate to have someone of Liam's skills that is happy to work a part time role.
Liam is a mad gamer and you will be able to find him online most weekends deep into his gaming world. We also live on the same property the factory is on and Liam was one of our elderly dog's go to people in a storm. It was always great to know if we were out of the office, Liam could calm her nerves.
Jarrod - 4th Year Apprentice
Jarrod started with Marine Air Flow through the school based work experience program. He is now a few weeks away from finishing his apprenticeship and is developing his skill set at a great rate of knots.
Jarrod is also a keen fisherman and is often out in the Broadwater with his mates trying to catch his dinner. Jarrod has quite the fetish for the perfectly constructed sandwich, which puts him in the middle of the smoko conversation on a regular basis. Jarrod's family is from Portugal originally and he has just returned from a summer holiday in Spain.
Joh - Accounts
Joh has been with Marine Air Flow International since the very start and in fact celebrated her long service leave recently.
Working remotely, Joh ensures there is always a positive cashflow , makes sure everyone gets paid every week and that all the accounts are processed correctly.
